Nike has released a new commercial for its new commercial-ready Air Max line, revealing that it’s the first Nike shoe since 2020 that won’t be sold at retail stores.
The ad begins with a series of shots of people walking on sidewalks in Tokyo, all wearing Air Max shoes.
Then, a shot of a group of people, wearing Nike Air Maxs, walking in a park.
In the commercial, Nike is showing off the Air Max 10 (model number 10) and Air Max 15 (model numbers 15) sneakers, which the brand said will be available on June 1, 2019.
In the past, the shoes have been available on the Nike website only in Japan, but Nike said this time around, the sneakers will be sold in stores.
The shoes will have a retail price of $249.99 (about ¥2,900), Nike said.
While there are plenty of shoes that Nike has yet to release to retailers, the ad does highlight some of the biggest selling trends from the brand’s first-year marketing effort.
The Air Max 1, the first pair of the Airmax line that Nike debuted in 2020, went on sale on March 29, 2020.
The Nike Airmax 1 “gives everyone the freedom to feel and look like their best selves,” the company said.
